Welcome to The Living Memory Historical Association

Step into a journey of recent history at our unique museum located in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Experience the past come to life as we showcase the memories that shape our future although the present is somewhat remenicent of the recent past.

An Unfortunate Interruption

In November 2024, The Cotswold District Council, our landlords, made the decision to sell the Hospital Cottages where the civilian section of the exhibition was housed.  The military and medical section in the Hospital Air Raid Shelter would remain.  At the present moment we are trying to locate premises near to the shelter to re-establish the full exhibition.

The majority of the artefacts from the cottages are in store, provided by the CDC and in the shelter. Unfortunately as a result we have been unable to open the exhibition  for this season.

This could not have happened at a worse time, with the 80th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War being upon us. We have already been called upon to provide costumes and artefacts for a stage play and other events making the retrieval from storage complicated.

As soon as we have more definite news, it will be posted.

Over the past year efforts have continued to find replacement premises for those in the Hospital Cottages. To date July 2026 without success.  During that time however three possibilities arose. Unfortunately the first was bejond our financial resources. The second seemed ideal, but a sudden change of heart by the owners of the property involved prevented further progress. A helpful councillor fom the Coswold District Council offered to see if he could persuade the CDC toallow us to use some empty space at the Trinity Road Offices initially for storage but possibly to set up the exhibition. Unfortunately this seems a forlorn hope.
